The 2024 model year marks the beginning of the Mustang’s hotly anticipated seventh generation. In addition to its bold facelift, the legendary pony car has a more powerful selection of engines and a retuned chassis that promises a thrilling drive. Here’s a quick rundown on the 2024 Ford Mustang before you head out to your local Ford dealership to see it for yourself!

Powertrain

Generating 315 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque, the new Mustang’s standard 2.3L turbo inline-4 engine is mated to an ultra-quick 10-speed automatic transmission and brings plenty of excitement. In fact, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 in under five seconds! Traditionalists will want to opt for the GT and Dark Horse models’ 5.0L V8, which pairs with a 6-speed manual transmission and puts out up to 500 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque.

Buyers may add an engine block heater and a high-performance, quad-tipped exhaust system that makes the Mustang sound even more aggressive.

Chassis

The Mustang boasts a highly refined double-ball-joint MacPherson strut front suspension and an integral-link rear suspension, allowing the car to tackle challenging corners with ease. Extra sport tuning for the chassis is available and further enhances handling. Standard on the Dark Horse and optional on other trims, the MagneRide damping system enables the Mustang to excel in changing conditions.

All four wheels have vented disc brakes that are quite sizable at 12.5 inches, but you can switch them out for a Brembo braking system with 15-inch rotors for the front and rear.

Interior

Instead of a traditional gauge cluster, the Mustang now sports a fully digital, 12.4-inch instrument display that can be customized in a variety of ways. That display is housed within the same panel as the 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen, streamlining the driving experience. The dashboard itself looks ultra-modern and features beautiful metallic trim. Deeply bolstered front bucket seats are very supportive and keep you in place when taking tight turns.

There’s nearly 45 inches of legroom in the front row, and the car’s rear seating has no problem accommodating two adults. Fastback models offer added practicality with their 13.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Available amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control, heated and cooled seats, and a 6-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support.

Infotainment

The intuitive Sync 4 infotainment system provides access to smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. The available connected navigation system features voice recognition and pinch-to-zoom capability. A 9-speaker sound system pumps out crisp sound, but audiophiles will want to opt for the 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system.
