What Is the FREEway Lifetime Powertrain Warranty?

The FREEway Lifetime Powertrain Warranty is designed to help protect original owners from unexpected covered powertrain repairs. Coverage includes approved engine, transmission, transfer case, drive axle, and qualifying hybrid/electric drive components.

This warranty applies to Original Owners, defined as the first retail purchaser or lessee who takes delivery of the vehicle on its Date of First Service. 


What’s Covered?

Engine Coverage

Includes covered gasoline engine components such as internally lubricated parts within the engine block and cylinder heads, plus select related parts including:

  • Water pump
  • Fuel pump
  • Valve covers
  • Oil pan
  • Timing belt or timing chain
  • Engine mounts
  • Intake and exhaust manifolds
  • Factory-installed supercharger or turbocharger

Diesel engine coverage includes the above, plus qualifying diesel fuel injection components.


Electric Drive Coverage

Coverage may include:

  • Electric drive motor/generator
  • Internal electric drive motor parts
  • Electric drive motor dampener
  • Electric drive motor mounts
  • Electric drive motor coolant pump

Transmission Coverage

Includes covered automatic and manual transmission components such as:

  • Internally lubricated transmission parts
  • Transmission mounts
  • Oil pan
  • Dipstick and filler tube
  • Transmission case when damaged due to the failure of a covered internally lubricated part

Transfer Case & Drive Axle Coverage

Coverage may include:

  • Internally lubricated transfer case parts
  • 4WD engagement parts
  • Hub assemblies
  • Axle shafts
  • Axle bearings
  • Constant velocity joints and boots
  • Universal joints
  • Center support bearing

Hybrid and EV gear reduction/reducer box coverage may also apply to select internal lubricated components.


How Do I Keep the Warranty Active?

To keep the FREEway Lifetime Powertrain Warranty in effect, simply maintain your vehicle according to the Manufacturer’s Recommended Maintenance Schedule at any certified repair facility.

Service does not have to be performed at Freeway Ford, but maintenance must be properly documented.

What does the FREEway Lifetime Powertrain Warranty cover?

It covers parts and labor on approved engine, transmission, and driveline failures, including applicable seals and gaskets, subject to the warranty terms and exclusions.

Do I have to service my vehicle at Freeway Ford?

No. Service may be completed at any certified repair facility, but all maintenance must be documented.

Can I change my own oil?

Yes, but you must keep receipts for oil and filters, maintain an oil change log, and document that service was completed within the recommended mileage intervals.

Is there a deductible?

There is no deductible when covered warranty work is completed at Freeway Ford. After the factory warranty expires, covered repairs completed at another service facility may require a $250 deductible.

Does the warranty include towing or rental car coverage?

No. Towing and rental coverage are not included under the FREEway Lifetime Powertrain Warranty. These may be available under the factory warranty or a separate extended service contract.

Is the warranty transferable?

No. The FREEway Lifetime Powertrain Warranty expires upon transfer to a subsequent owner.

FREEway Lifetime Powertrain Warranty applies to eligible vehicles and original owners only. Coverage begins from the vehicle’s Date of First Service and applies to approved covered components as outlined in the warranty terms. Normal wear and tear, routine maintenance, and excluded items are not covered. Commercial use vehicles are excluded. Warranty is non-transferable and expires upon transfer to any subsequent owner.
