“The Nutcracker Ballet”

Head to Schneider Theater at the Bloomington Center for the Arts to watch a magical performance of “The Nutcracker Ballet.” The Continental Ballet Company brings Tchaikovsky’s classic tale of Clara’s trip to the land of the Sugar Plum Fairy to life for everyone to enjoy this holiday season. The performance will occur on November 30, December 1, December 7, and December 8, 2019.

Nature Arts & Crafts Fair

If you’re looking to cross a few names off that gift list and get some holiday shopping done, make plans to attend the Nature Arts & Crafts Fair on November 2 at the Richardson Nature Center. When you stop by the center, you’ll discover around a dozen local artisans and crafters selling natural beauty products, jewelry, paintings, and more. Not only will you find some unique items to give as gifts, but you’ll also be able to help out the community since a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People-Bloomington Food Shelf.

Mall of America

In addition to more than 500 stores offering a variety of products and services, the Mall of America also has plenty of other activities to enjoy during November and December. Santa officially arrives at the mall on November 9 and will be available for pictures throughout the holiday season. FlyOver America has a special holiday film that follows Santa to the North Pole. You can also stop by the Rotunda every day to check out the free holiday music entertainment.

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

From November 22 to January 5, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum will light up the night with its Winter in Bloom celebration. During this event, you can stroll through the gardens to view stunning winter light displays. If the crisp air starts to make you feel a little chilly, you can warm up with a cup of hot tea or cocoa. You can also buy a s’mores kit and roast marshmallows over a bonfire. Don’t forget to stop in the Oswald Visitor’s Center to admire the 25-foot Poinsettia trees and themed decorations.

“Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol”

You likely know the tale of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” But are you familiar with Jacob Marley’s side of the story? If not, head to Schneider Theater at the Bloomington Center for the Arts from November 30 to December 15 to watch “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol.” Performed by Tom Mula, this one-actor play tells the tale of Marley’s behind-the-scenes efforts to save Scrooge’s soul.
