Whether you’re going on a first date or celebrating an anniversary with your significant other, you’ll want a place that’s fun and memorable. Here are some amazing spots in Bloomington where you can enjoy an entertaining evening with your partner.
- The Escape Game
The Escape Game locks participants in a room for an hour while you work together to solve puzzles and figure out how to get out. Couples can reserve an entire room or team up with other people to escape together. It’s a great way to meet a few new friends and bond with your date, and if there’s any type of emergency, you can always leave without solving the puzzle.
In the Gold Rush room, your mission will be to find a missing prospector’s stash of gold before the mob gets to it. In Mission: Mars, your ship has landed on the Red Planet, but it took some damage on the way down. You and your date need to make repairs before harmful radiation keeps you from taking off again. You can even try to escape from jail in the Prison Break room.
The Escape Game is open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. It’s part of the Mall of America in Bloomington, so you and your date can enjoy shopping and snacks before or after your game.
- SMAAASH
SMAAASH calls itself America’s Adrenaline Arena, and it lives up to its name. You and your date can play laser tag, arcade games, virtual-reality dodgeball, basketball, hockey, or soccer, and enjoy go-karting on a multi-level track. You can also fight killer robots together, try to escape virtual dinosaurs, or explore a haunted hospital. There’s also a restaurant with a bar. Try the chicken tenders with delicious wild blueberry sauce or the fried macaroni and cheese with marinara.
SMAAASH is also part of the Mall of America. It’s open Monday to Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to midnight, Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- Ciao Bella
This romantic restaurant in Bloomington serves authentic Italian cuisine made with fresh, local ingredients. It has a beautiful outdoor patio and a large collection of original art. There’s an extensive wine list, and this place is perfect for special occasions.
Try herb linguini with braised lamb, spicy crab spaghetti seasoned with chilies, lemon, and mint, or wild mushroom, Molinari sausage, and artichoke pizza. For dessert, you can have seasonal cobbler with gelato, tiramisu, or caramel sea salt custard. You can also try a caramel sea salt latte or an espresso. Many gluten-free options are available. Ciao Bella is open Monday to Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Whether you and your date are searching for an interesting puzzle, an exciting race, or a romantic meal, you can have an outstanding time in Bloomington. It’s only about 20 minutes away from Minneapolis, and the area is full of fun activities.
