The 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning brings electrification to America’s best-selling pickup. That means greater power, instant acceleration, and more storage. There’s a lot more to love about the all-new Lightning, so let’s explore some of its electrifying features.
1. Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive
The Lightning is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, with one motor driving the front axle and the other powering the rear. With the Standard Range Battery, the motors combine to produce 452 hp, while the Extended Range battery increases that to 580 hp. Both variants provide a flat 775 lb-ft of instant torque. With the bigger battery, the Lightning can get up to 60 mph in a little over 4 seconds, which is impressive for a half-ton truck.
2. Practical Driving Range
With the Standard Range battery, the Lightning can travel up to 240 miles on a single charge. With the Extended Range battery, the truck can go up to 320 miles, making it well-suited for long-distance travel. Charging can be done at home or on the go at public charging stations. With a Level 2 Ford Charge Station Pro home unit, the Extended Range battery can be charged overnight in 8–10 hours. Using a Level 3 DC fast charger gains roughly 65% in just 41 minutes.
3. Strong Towing
The Lightning’s electric system doesn’t make any sacrifices in strength. When properly equipped with the Extended Range battery and Max Trailer Tow Package, the truck achieves a 10,000-pound maximum towing capacity and 2,235-pound maximum payload capacity. Standard conventional towing tops off at 7,700 pounds. Standard equipment such as onboard scales and a trailer brake controller make towing safer and easier.
4. Pro Power Onboard
The Pro Power Onboard system turns the truck into a mobile generator. The standard system supplies 2.4kW of power, but Lariat and Platinum trims offer up to 9.6kW. This power is distributed through two 120V outlets in the cabin, four 120V outlets in the frunk, and one additional 240V outlet in the bed in Lariat and Platinum models only. The Lightning can also be used to power your home for up to three days in the event of a major power outage.
5. Mega Power Frunk
Instead of a traditional engine compartment, the Lightning offers the largest frunk of any full-size pickup. It delivers 14.1 cu.ft. of sealed, drainable storage space and a payload capacity of 400 pounds. In addition to the four 120V power outlets mentioned previously, the frunk also contains two USB ports and LED lighting.
The Lightning is an innovative pickup that adapts the traditional work truck for the electric era. Find your ideal trim at Freeway Ford in Minneapolis, MN today.
