In 1968, a “Bullitt” arrived on the big screen with actor Steve McQueen behind the wheel. Fifty years later, the new 2019 Bullitt is still blending classic with classy as it continues the tradition of this famous car with attention to power, performance, and undeniable attitude, just like the original.
Performance
When someone says “put the pedal to the metal,” that means you have the power necessary to get where you want to go with no questions asked. That’s what the 2019 Bullitt brings to the table. Its 5.0-liter Coyote V-8 produces 480 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, which means there’s no question the car has the power whenever and wherever you’re traversing the highways and byways.
To keep this special pony under control, you’ll have a six-speed manual transmission at your fingertips to shift while maneuvering the powerful car. Its optional active valve performance exhaust system is the icing on the cake. It does what a 480-horsepower Mustang is supposed to do: enhance the character of the car with a traditionally low growling exhaust that purrs like a high-performance car should.
The Bullitt is equipped with a solid suspension system and comes standard with the GT Performance package, which includes Brembo six-piston brakes, Torsen differential, structural enhancements, and chassis tuning.
Exterior
The 2019 Bullitt is a lean, mean machine that doesn’t need bells and whistles to make a statement. It isn’t pretentious; it stands out on its own just like the original. The two-door coupe features a long hood, exceptionally expressive headlights, true Mustang taillights, a dash of chrome around the windows, and black Torq Thrust-style wheels with red calipers to offset the Dark Highland Green exterior color. There’s no pony on the grille. Instead, the rear plate has the Bullitt badge situated between the lights.
Interior
The clean lines of the exterior blend perfectly with the equally smooth interior. For the driver, there’s easy access to a 12-inch LCD digital instrument cluster featuring MyColor, a heated steering wheel, and a rear-view camera.
Comfort comes with four-way adjustable head restraints in the front, leather-trimmed front bucket seats featuring stitching in Dark Highland Green, a six-way power front passenger seat, and a six-way power seat with lumbar control for the driver. For entertainment, tap into the nine-speaker sound system, amplifier, SYNC 3, SiriusXM radio, and two USB charging ports.
Options include Recaro leather-trimmed seats, a voice-activated navigation system featuring pinch-to-zoom capability, and a 12-speaker B&O Play audio system that includes HD radio, a CD player, and a subwoofer located in the trunk.
Safety
When you’re behind the wheel of a high-performance car, safety is important, and the 2019 Mustang has plenty of features for passengers and for the car. Standard features include Advance Trac with electronic stability control, Belt-Minder, front and side impact air bags, side-curtain air bags, three-point safety belt restraint system, driver’s knee air bag, and lower anchors and tether anchors for children (LATCH) system.
There’s also the SecuriLock Passive Anti-Theft system, perimeter alarm, illuminated entry, remote keyless entry, and an SOS Post-Crash Alert system.
The 2019 Bullitt has it all — class, style, high-end performance, power, and history — which makes a statement about the car as well as the person driving it.
