Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2025 Ford Explorer is available in four trims: Active, ST-Line, ST, and Platinum. The Active trim has 18-inch aluminum wheels finished in Carbonized Gray and LED signature lighting. The ST-Line features sporty design elements, including a black mesh grille with specific ST-Line badging. The performance-oriented ST trim has 20-inch machined aluminum wheels featuring high-gloss black pockets and a sport-tuned suspension. The top-tier Platinum trim elevates the Explorer's appearance with satin aluminum finish grille and exterior trim elements. Power-folding side mirrors with memory function come standard on the ST and Platinum trims, while all trims feature a hands-free power liftgate.
Engine (Power)
The Active and ST-Line trims are powered by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost I-4 engine, generating 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The ST trim features a potent 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6, delivering 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque. The Platinum trim uses a specially tuned version of the 3.0-liter EcoBoost V-6, producing 365 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. All engines pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost returns fuel economy ratings of 11.9-liter/100km city and 8.7-liter/100km highway, while the ST's 3.0-liter EcoBoost rates at 13-liter/100km city and 9.3-liter/100km highway. Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management System is available across all trim levels.
Performance
The ST trim leads the lineup in acceleration, achieving 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds, followed by the Platinum at 6 seconds and the Active and ST-Line at 6.8 seconds. When properly equipped, the ST and Platinum can tow up to 5,600 pounds, while the Active and ST-Line manage 5,300 pounds. The TMS offers multiple drive modes: Normal, Sport, Trail, Slippery, Tow/Haul, and Eco. The ST trim benefits from a sport-tuned suspension with unique spring rates for enhanced handling dynamics..
