Quick Tips for Driving Safely with Food During the Holidays

If you are lucky enough to be spending the holidays at home, you may not need to worry about how to safely transport food during the busy season. But if you are spending the holidays with family or friends, or in charge of procuring items for parties or gatherings, you may need these quick tips to ensure you - and your food - arrive safely.

Secure Containers
Be sure all of your food items are closed securely within sturdy containers. Do not transport liquids or sauces in bags that might leak or break. If you can, use plastic containers that won't shatter as easily if they fall or get dropped.

Take Care with Hot Items
If you are transporting a dish that has been in the oven or microwave, or even recently on the stove, you need to be extra careful that you don't burn yourself or your vehicle. Use a specially made carrier for heated dishes, or wrap the dish in thick towels. Place the hot dish on the floor of the vehicle instead of in a seat or on someone's lap.

These tips, combined with a great car that can get you and your food to where you need to be, can help make your holidays fun and special. If you provide the food, we can help you with the car, so contact us today!
